Kolkata: A webinar was held to mark International Human Rights Day by Surendranath College in association with National Human Rights and Corruption Prevention Organization-NHRCPO,an objective to make students aware about their rights.
Principal Dr.Indranil Kar, IQAC Coordinator Achintya Biswas NSS volunteers and Programme Officer from Surendranath and other colleges ,delegates of NHRCPO ,Professors and students were present.The honourable invited speakers of the webinar were Mr. Arindam Acharjee (ex Police Inspector govt.of W.B. &National Legal Advisor NHRCPO) ,Dr Ruma Gomes National President of NHRCPO, Umakant Mishra NVP NHRCPO.After An interactive question answer session volunteers and participants expressed the need for such programme in contemporary times.
International Human Rights Day is celebrated on December 10 to commemorate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 1948.
The declaration outlines fundamental rights and freedoms which people are entitled to, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion or any other status.
The speakers significantly explained to students and delegates to advocate for protection of human rights and to work towards creating a world where the rights are respected and upheld.
